Shiloh Community Housing, Inc (SCHI) Programs

SCDI is working with Shiloh Community Housing, Inc (SCHI) which helps our community in the area of housing and financial assistance for housing. SCHI offers several programs including, rent and utility assistance for eviction and utility shutoff prevention, first/last month rent payments to secure housing as well as offering affordable housing for low to moderate income earners.

They also have the Living Independently ForEver (L.I.F.E.) program which provides housing for homeless young adults, ages 18-24, while acquiring independent living skills. There is also the LIFE@Work Program which is a program that assists young adults with attaining work readiness skills and training credentials to secure employment.

N.O.B.L.E Partnering With Walmart

The National Organization of Black Law Enforement (NOBLE) has partnered up with Walmart and given us a large donation of school supplies! We will package them up and deliver them to needy schools in the area. Special thanks to Captain Tony April, a member of NOBLE and an AK State Trooper, for working with Walmart and arranging this donation!

The Municipality is always looking for concerned citizens who are willing to take part in our municipal government process and work hard to help make our community an even better place to live, work and play!

Each October, approximately one third (about 150) of the seats on municipal boards and commissions are appointed. Nearly all appointments are made for a three-year term Throughout the year vacancies occur on many of our boards and commissions. Applications are kept on hand as a resource for those vacancies.
